Hornets upend Grizzlies

Mar 23, 2013 - 3:06 AM New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - Robin Lopez scored 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Anthony Davis chipped in with 18 points and 15 boards to lead the New Orleans Hornets to a 90-83 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday.

Greivis Vasquez added 12 points and nine assists and Eric Gordon finished with 11 points despite going 4-for-13 from the field for the Hornets, who have won two straight.

Mike Conley scored 20 points and Marc Gasol finished with 16 points and six boards for the Grizzlies, who had won eight of their last 10 entering the contest.

Zach Randolph scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds, while Jerryd Bayless donated 12 points off the bench in the setback.

The Grizzlies led 21-14 after the first quarter, but the Hornets outscored Memphis 34-22 in the second to take a 48-43 into that break.

Both teams struggled shooting in the third, but New Orleans outscored the Grizzlies 11-3 over the final six minutes of the frame to go into the break with a 67-58 advantage.

The Hornets' lead swelled to 16 just under three minutes into the fourth, but the Grizzlies opened up a 21-7 burst to pull within 83-81 with 2:36 to go.

Vasquez buried a trey with 1:50 left, and Lopez cleaned up a Gordon miss to push the spread to seven points.

Bayless cut it to 88-83 with just over a minute left, and Memphis was held scoreless the rest of the way.
