Wizards hope to keep road momentum in clash with Warriors

(Sports Network) - The Golden State Warriors have won four of their last six games and begin a five-game homestand Saturday night when the Washington Wizards head to Oracle Arena.

The Warriors couldn't quite wrap up a perfect road trip on Wednesday when they fell for the 29th consecutive time in San Antonio, 104-93.

Steph Curry led the Warriors with 24 points, while David Lee had a double- double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Jarrett Jack (14), Harrison Barnes (13), Carl Landry (10) all scored in double figures.

The Warriors couldn't stop future Hall of Famer, Tim Duncan, who had 25 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and four blocks.

"(Duncan) shows that he still has it and you have to prepare for him every night. At this point there is no surprise with him. He is professional and one of the best, if not the best," Curry said of Duncan.

The Warriors have almost no chance of improving from the sixth seed, where they currently reside. They trail the Memphis Grizzles by eight games, so that's unrealistic.

But Golden State could fall to seventh, or even eighth. The Houston Rockets are just a half-game behind the Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers, who sit in the eighth spot, are three back.

The Wizards aren't going to the postseason, but they are still fighting. They've won two in a row and five of their last six and this current four-game road trip has gone well.

After dropping the first of the trek to the Charlotte Bobcats, the Wizards topped the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, then knocked off the Los Angeles Lakers, 103-100 on Friday.

The Wizards were down 59-41 a minute into the third quarter, but fought back furiously, winning on the night both Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol returned to the lineup for the Lakers.

"In the second half we saw we could get out and run with confidence, even being down 18," Wizards coach Randy Wittman said. "We moved the ball and made shots down the stretch."

John Wall continued his spectacular play of late with 24 points and a career- high 16 assists. Trevor Ariza chipped in 25 off the bench and four other Wizards scored in double figures.

Bradley Beal (sprained left ankle), A.J. Price (groin) and Emeka Okafor (flu) all missed the game on Friday. They are all listed as day-to-day.

The Warriors have won four straight and five of the last seven meetings with the Wizards, and are 4-1 in their last five at home in this series.
