Tucker, Ford lead Raptors past Nets

Oct 15, 2006 - 8:27 PM TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Toronto Raptors didn't have All-Star forward Chris Bosh, but a pair of former Texas Longhorns proved to be enough.

Rookie P.J. Tucker scored 18 points and T.J. Ford had a double-double as the Raptors posted a 119-110 preseason victory over the New Jersey Nets.

A second-round pick, Tucker hit 6-of-7 shots and led seven Raptors in double figures. Ford, acquired from Milwaukee in an offseason trade, added 10 points and 11 assists.

Bosh dressed but did not play with a sore left heel, leaving Andrea Bargnani and Kris Humphries to pick up the slack in the post - and they responded.

The first overall pick in the 2006 draft, Bargnani scored 11 points and was 2-of-2 from the arc. Humphries contributed 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Antoine Wright scored 21 points for the Nets, who also got a strong game from rookie point guard Marcus Williams. A first-round pick out of Connecticut, Williams scored 16 points and added nine assists.
