Suns hope to stay undefeated in road test with OKC

Nov 3, 2013 - 3:46 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Phoenix Suns were pegged to finish with one of the worst records in the NBA this season, but so far they're 2-0 and looking for more. They will visit the Oklahoma City Thunder Sunday night.

The Suns topped Portland in their season opener, then disposed of the Utah Jazz 87-84 on Friday night. Eric Bledsoe was on fire in the fourth quarter and scored the team's last 14 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 0.7 seconds left.

Bledsoe missed 10 of his first 11 shots from the field before making three of his last four. He had 17 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter.

"I knew that he was playing me to drive so I was going to wait until the clock got really low to shoot it but I already had it in my mind that I was going to shoot it. I had planned on it being a three. He dared me to shoot and so I knew I was going to shoot it," Bledsoe said.

Phoenix head coach Jeff Hornacek, meanwhile, has the Suns at 2-0 for the first time in four years after defeating the organization he was with for the past two decades.

Miles Plumlee added 13 points and 13 rebounds in the triumph.

Suns starting point guard Goran Dragic, who had five points, exited the game in the third quarter with a right face contusion following a collision with teammate Markieff Morris. He is questionable Sunday.

The Thunder are coming off a tough 100-81 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Kevin Durant, after scoring 42 in Wednesday's season-opening win over the Utah Jazz, had just 13 points in this one on 4-of-11 shooting. Jeremy Lamb led Oklahoma City with 16 points, nine of them coming in the fourth quarter.

"They didn't surprise us. We knew they were a good team," said OKC head coach Scott Brooks. "We didn't have a defensive disposition tonight and that's unacceptable. But it's early. It's the second game of the year."

Oklahoma City will be playing its home opener Sunday and went 17-4 last season in games after a loss. It was 34-7 at Chesapeake Energy Arena last year.

The Thunder won all four meetings with Phoenix last season and are unbeaten in the past 10 matchups.
