High-powered Clippers make a stop in Orlando

The Clippers plastered the Houston Rockets 137-118 on Monday night. It was the most points in the regular season for the Clippers since March 13, 1998.
"It's not like we're just running, we're running into sets," head coach Doc Rivers explained. "You can see the second actions. I thought we scored a lot on the pick and roll, the swing, the pin down and the spacing. It's good because you can run that slow or fast, and that's preparation for later because you're not going to be able to get all of these breaks, but you can still run the same motion."
The Clips put up 78 points in the first half alone. Seven L.A. players scored in double figures and three of those - J.J. Redick, Chris Paul and Jamal Crawford - topped the 20-point plateau. Paul also had 17 assists to go along with his 23 points.
The Clippers are now first in the NBA in scoring, but also dead last in opponents' scoring. They allowed seven Rockets to score in double digits and Houston shot 50 percent from the field.
Los Angeles will visit the Miami Heat and Houston Rockets on the remainder of this trip.
The Magic have won two straight after losing the first two nights of the season. Once the Magic returned to Orlando, they knocked off both the New Orleans Pelicans and Brooklyn Nets.
The Magic had little trouble dispatching the Nets, taking the third quarter by 12 and winning by 21.
"If we played them one-on-one, we'd lose. If we come with a collective responsibility approach at both ends of the floor, we have a chance and our guys did that," Magic head coach Jacque Vaughn said.
Six Magic players scored in double figures, led by rookie Victor Oladipo and Nikola Vucevic, who both had 19 points. Vucevic added 12 rebounds and he wasn't the only one who had a double-double. Andrew Nicholson chipped in 17 points and 11 boards.
Arron Afflalo, Jameer Nelson and Maurice Harkless all scored in double figures as well.
The two teams split their two meetings last season, but Orlando has taken 10 of the last 12 matchups. The Clippers have bested the Magic in their last two trips to Magic Kingdom.
