Green's hot shooting leads Spurs over 76ers

Nov 12, 2013 - 4:01 AM Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Danny Green shot 5-of-7 from 3-point range en route to a team-high 18 points as the short-handed San Antonio Spurs cruised past the Philadelphia 76ers, 109-85, from Wells Fargo Center.

Tony Parker added 14 points and nine assists as the Spurs won the second of a road back-to-back without star big man Tim Duncan, who sat out to rest. San Antonio routed the Knicks on Sunday.

"I think everybody got it going," said Green, "but we always feed off Tony (Parker)."

Kawhi Leonard went for 13 points and eight rebounds while Marco Belinelli and Patty Mills chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively, off the bench.

The Spurs have won five in a row overall and three in a row on the road.

"I was really pleased with the effort," said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. "It was our fifth game in seven nights. I was really impressed with their focus."

Evan Turner led Philadelphia with 20 points. Spencer Hawes' torrid start to the season continued with a 17-point, 13-rebound effort, while Tony Wroten led the bench unit with 13 points.

"I think the biggest thing we took away from tonight seeing it firsthand is their unselfishness on both ends of the floor," said Hawes. "They were selling out for each other on defense."

The Sixers missed their first seven shots from the floor and fell behind 6-0 before James Anderson took a handoff from Thaddeus Young and hit a triple at the 8:36 mark.

San Antonio never trailed and pulled away from the home team as the first quarter went on. The difference in the opening period was the Spurs' bench, which outscored Philly's by a 12-0 margin. Manu Ginobili and Belinelli each made 3-pointers as part of a 14-0 surge to finish the quarter, which put the Spurs up 31-13.

Philadelphia scored the first 10 points of the second, and Turner's long ball less than there minutes in forced a San Antonio timeout. The Spurs regrouped in the huddle and outscored the Sixers 26-15 until halftime to take a 57-38 advantage into the locker rooms.

Leonard netted 11 of his 13 points in the third quarter on 5-of-6 shooting. The Sixers scored 18 points in the paint in the period and matched the Spurs with 26 third quarter points.

The Spurs led by at least 18 points for the duration of the fourth.
