Sixers hope to halt losing streak in Dallas

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia 76ers will try to salvage a game during their current road trip Monday when they visit American Airlines Center to face the Dallas Mavericks.

The Sixers fell in Atlanta, 113-103 on Friday, then got waxed by the New Orleans Pelicans, 135-98 on Saturday. The 138 points allowed was the most by a Sixers team since April of 1997.

"I think the guys stayed together, but that's a big margin," said Sixers coach Brett Brown. "They're a good team. It is what it is and we move on. This is a long year."

Brown rested most of his starters late as the Sixers were down by 37 points after three quarters and Michael Carter-Williams missed his third straight game with a sore foot.

Darius Morris led the Sixers with 20 points and Tony Wroten added 19. Spencer Hawes scored 14 points, while Thaddeus Young and James Anderson managed 11 points apiece.

Evan Turner, the team's leading scorer, went 2-for-11 from the field and scored just four points.

Now, the Sixers head to Dallas, where they've dropped seven in a row.

The Mavs have taken three of four and two of the three wins came on the road. They are back home for five of their next six, starting with their tilt against Philly.

On Saturday, the Mavericks took a 13-point lead into the half against the Orlando Magic and won 108-100.

"Against a tough, young and athletic team it's not easy to play," said Dirk Nowitzki. "They had two days to sit and watch us play, so this is a big win for us, You know, it's a huge swing between 5-5 and 6-4. We've got a winning record going home for three games now."

Monta Ellis paced the Mavs with 19 points, followed by 18 apiece from Nowitzki, who shot 4-for-6 from the 3-point line, and DeJuan Blair. Vince Carter scored 12 points and Shawn Marion and Jose Calderon had 11 each.

Dallas shot 51.2 percent from the field and committed only 10 turnovers. Orlando actually outshot the Mavs from the floor, but had 19 miscues that led to 22 Mavericks points.

The Mavericks welcome the Houston Rockets and Utah Jazz on this homestand.

The 76ers haven't won in Dallas since Jan. 29, 2005.
