Pacers eye bounce-back effort at MSG

Nov 20, 2013 - 3:55 PM (Sports Network) - The Indiana Pacers will have to do something they haven't had to all season - respond after a loss.

The Pacers fell out of the ranks of unbeaten teams with a loss to the Chicago Bulls, but they have a chance to kick off another winning streak when they visit Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Knicks Wednesday.

"Our guys are dialed into a New York opponent that's playing a unique style of basketball, a unique style of small ball," said Pacers coach Frank Vogel. "We have to be ready to win the next game."

The Pacers lost for the first time Saturday night in Chicago, 110-94. Indiana fell behind by 25 after the first half and never really got back into the contest.

Indiana is one of the best defensive squads in the league, but allowed a season-high by 19 points. Saturday's game was the first time the Pacers allowed 100-plus points in a game.

"I don't feel like we were complacent but watching film, it showed that we were complacent," admitted Paul George. "I think that loss helped us get back to reality that we can't just come into a gym and expect to win."

Roy Hibbert had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. David West and Chris Copeland, who will return to New York after playing there last season, both had 13 points. George, Lance Stephenson and George Hill also scored in double figures.

The Pacers will try to rebound against a Knicks team they bested in six games during last season's Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Knicks look far from the reigning Atlantic Division champions.

They've dropped three in a row and the most recent setback came in the form of a 92-86 road loss to the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday. That's now four of the last five games the Knicks have failed to score 100 points.

"We have to figure it out quick," Carmelo Anthony said of the team's slow start. "It's hard to take anything positive out of the way we've been playing."

Anthony led the way for the Knicks against the Pistons with 25 points, but he shot 8-for-20 from the floor and committed seven turnovers.

J.R. Smith had 18 off the bench, while Andrea Bargnani chipped in 13 and Iman Shumpert added 11.

Raymond Felton (hip) missed the Detroit game and Beno Udrih started in his place and went scoreless. Metta World Peace also missed the game with a sore left knee.

The Knicks have won three straight regular-season games at home against the Pacers as the two teams split last season's four regular-season contests.
