Rockets rally past Grizzlies

Nov 26, 2013 - 7:27 AM Memphis, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Chandler Parsons scored 17 points on 8-of-9 shooting and Dwight Howard added 15 points with seven rebounds to help the Houston Rockets to a 93-86 win over the Memphis Grizzlies at FedEx Forum.

Houston trailed 63-55 heading into the fourth quarter, but scored 38 points in the final frame to complete the comeback.

Omri Casspi scored 16 points off the bench, while Jeremy Lin netted 14 and Terrence Jones finished with 11 for Houston, which snapped a five-game losing streak in Memphis.

"When we move the ball and share the ball together, we are tough," Casspi said.

Tayshaun Prince paced Memphis with 16 points and Mike Conley added 10 points with 10 assists in the loss.

"Offensively they (Houston) are really, really good," said Memphis head coach David Joerger. "I thought we played extremely hard but we're going to have to play small ball to keep the games close as long as we can. Try and stop runs as quick as possible."

Houston was without its leading scorer, James Harden, for a second straight game and the reserves led the comeback effort early in the fourth quarter. The Rockets went on a 14-2 run in the opening four-plus minutes of the period to take a 69-65 lead with Howard sitting on the bench, and never looked back from there.

Francisco Garcia tied the game at 65-65 with a 3-pointer and Casspi gave Houston its first lead since the opening minutes after a pair of free throws with 8:26 left.

Casspi scored 11 points in the quarter and Garcia added six.

Playing without Marc Gasol for the first time this season because of a sprained knee that will sideline the center indefinitely, the Grizzlies jumped out to a 24-20 lead after one quarter of play.

After four straight points from Howard late in the second quarter, Houston pulled within two at 34-32, Memphis ended the final four minutes of the stanza on a 10-0 run to lead by 12 at the half.

Conley stole the ball from Lin with 3.9 seconds left in the half and Tony Allen's layup attempt with 0.4 ticks remaining was goaltended by Jones. Houston trailed 44-32 at the break.

The Grizzlies built their lead to as many as 14 early in the third quarter, but Houston slowly chipped away at the deficit before its surge in the fourth.
