Grizzlies start homestand with Nets

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Memphis Grizzlies are back on Beale Street for six straight games and will start the homestand Saturday versus the Brooklyn Nets at FedExForum.

The Grizzlies have lost three in a row at home and will also welcome the Suns, Clippers, Warriors, Magic and Thunder to town. They are 3-4 as the host.

Memphis ended a two-game slide and won for the fifth time in seven tries with Wednesday's 100-93 victory at Boston, as Jerryd Bayless led five Memphis players in double figures with 22 points and Mike Conley finished with 14 points and nine assists.

"I think we got some great defensive rebounds from them missing a couple of their looks. Good outlet passes, good steals and finishing in transition. When our defense is playing well, we play well," said Conley.

Zach Randolph recorded 13 points and seven rebounds for the Grizzlies, who fended off a furious rally by the Celtics in the fourth quarter.

Brooklyn is now 4-12 on the season after Friday's 114-95 loss at Houston. The Rockets stormed out to a 33-17 lead after the first quarter and had a 66-40 advantage at halftime.

The Nets played better in the second half, outscoring Houston by a 55-48 margin, but have now dropped two in a row and seven of eight. Brooklyn made 41.6 percent of its shots and was led by Mirza Teletovic's 18 points and 13 rebounds. Nets center Brook Lopez was back in action after missing seven games and finished with 16 points.

Mason Plumlee also scored 16 points off the bench and reserve Tyshawn Taylor netted 16 as well to go along with 12 assists.

"We have to figure out what the problem is with that starting group," Nets coach Jason Kidd said. "Fatigue is the only thing I can think of. It's an 82 game season and we're getting some healthy bodies back slowly and we just have to stay together."

The Nets were without point guard Deron Williams and guard Jason Terry for a fifth straight game. Williams (ankle) and Terry (knee) are questionable against the Grizzlies.

Brooklyn is 2-8 on the road and 2-6 overall against the West this season. It lost both meetings with Memphis a season ago and has dropped five of the last seven matchups between the teams.

The Nets have lost seven of their last 10 games on Beale Street.
