Nuggets aim for 8th straight win, visit Cleveland

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Denver Nuggets will ride a seven-game winning streak into Quicken Loans Arena Wednesday night when they face off with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Nuggets haven't lost since a road setback in Oklahoma City on Nov. 18. Since, they've won four in a row as the visitor and are 2-0 on this current six-game odyssey east.

Denver collected its seventh straight Tuesday night with a 111-87 demolishing of the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center. Six Nuggets scored in double figures and Denver shot 50.6 percent from the field.

"Good effort all around again. We got contributions from everywhere," said Nuggets head coach Brian Shaw. "Our bench, as of late, has been very impressive."

The Nuggets' second unit accounted for 57 points, led by the monster performance from Timofey Mozgov. The backup center, who played a team-high 30:37, scored 17 points and grabbed 20 rebounds.

Jordan Hamilton, Kenneth Faried, Ty Lawson, Randy Foye and Darrell Arthur also cracked the 10-point plateau.

Nate Robinson only had nine points and injured his right hand during a collision. He attempted his free throws left-handed and his availability for Wednesday is unknown.

The Nuggets made just seven 3-pointers, snapping their franchise-record run of consecutive games with eight-or-more 3-pointers at eight.

The Cavaliers have lost at least two games after every win this season and look to buck that trend versus the Nuggets.

Cleveland ended a five-game losing streak with Saturday's 97-93 victory versus the Chicago Bulls, as Dion Waiters and Andrew Bynum both scored 20 points and the oft-injured center grabbed 10 rebounds.

"It's actually good to jump and see that it wasn't too bad on the landing. I think, more so than anything, it's about getting more and more minutes and getting out on the floor and getting my touch back," Bynum said after posting his first double-double of the season.

Bynum, who missed all of last season with the Philadelphia 76ers because of balky knees, added five blocks and three assists in 30 minutes.

Kyrie Irving scored 19 points and Tristan Thompson ended with 14 and 14 rebounds. The Cavs' bench has been very productive recently, scoring at least 50 points in four of the last six games. Waiters is a big reason for that and enters Wednesday's game with three straight 20-plus point performances.

Waiters is averaging 21.7 ppg in that time and has scored in double figures in 10 of his last 11 games.

Cleveland is 4-3 at Quicken Loans Arena this season and will play the first of two matchups with Denver this season. The Nuggets will host the Cavaliers on Jan. 17 at the Pepsi Center and won both matchups in this series a season ago.

The Nuggets have prevailed in six of seven and 11 of the last 14 contests against Cleveland. Denver is unbeaten in three straight trips to the Q.
