T'Wolves aim to stay hot versus Sixers

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Minnesota Timberwolves will try to keep their momentum going Tuesday night when they welcome the Philadelphia 76ers to Target Center.

The Wolves crushed the Detroit Pistons, 121-94 on Tuesday at The Palace of Auburn Hills. That victory halted a two-game losing streak, although Minny has dropped two straight at home.

Kevin Love returned to the Wolves lineup after missing Saturday's game due to the death of his grandmother. He finished with 26 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists.

"It's really a holy place for me and it has been my whole life. Any time I've had some sort of adversity, it's the best way to get back," Love said. "I always say my work ethic is my weapon. That's always been a way to get through any adversity. It was great to get back out there."

Nikola Pekovic and Kevin Martin both scored 18 points, followed by 15 from Ricky Rubio. Corey Brewer added 11 and J.J. Barea chipped in 10 points off the bench.

The Wolves shot 45.8 percent from behind the 3-point line and had 31 assists on 41 made field goals.

Minnesota hits the road for three straight, starting Friday in San Antonio.

The Sixers leave Philly for a two-game trip and they do so the losers of three in a row, seven of eight and 11 of 13. They are just 1-8 on the road and the lone victory came in their first road game in Washington on Nov. 1.

On Monday, the Sixers were game, but fell to the Los Angeles Clippers at home, 94-83. Philadelphia trailed by 20 during the third quarter, but fought back and made things interesting.

Evan Turner led the way for the 76ers with 25 points. Thaddeus Young added 16 and was the only other Philadelphia player in double figures. Young pulled down 11 rebounds and Tony Wroten, who is starting in place of the injured Michael Carter-Williams, had 10 boards.

"In a real twisted way, I love it. I really enjoy coaching this group," said Philadelphia head coach Brett Brown. "By and large, our team has played a style of play and played with an aggression that I am proud of."

Carter-Williams has missed the last three games with a right knee issue caused by an infection. Brown indicated Carter-Williams will travel with the team, but he's not expected to play on Wednesday.

The Sixers head north to Toronto on Friday to finish the trip.

The Timberwolves have won three straight against the 76ers and are 10-2 in their last 12 against Philly at home.
