Heat host Utah in South Beach

Dec 16, 2013 - 4:11 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Heat will resume their five-game homestand Monday versus the Utah Jazz at AmericanAirlines Arena.

The two-time defending champion Heat opened the homestand with Saturday's 114-107 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, as LeBron James led the way with 25 points, Dwyane Wade added 24 and Chris Bosh finished with 22 and 12 rebounds.

Ray Allen and Mario Chalmers scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Heat, who have won three of their last four games and improved to 10-2 as the host this season. Miami shot 55.3 percent and scored 20 points off 16 Cleveland turnovers.

Miami was on fire in the first two quarters and had a 68-52 lead at the break. The Cavs then cooled off the Heat in the third quarter and later took a 95-91 lead thanks to a 15-7 run. Miami, though, used a 9-1 burst later in the game to take the lead for good.

"We're a team that obviously has the ability to take it up a notch," Wade said. "It helps as well because we were at home, but that's the difference between winning and losing."

Miami has won a franchise-record 16 straight games against Western Conference opponents and looms to add to that with Utah in town. The record for consecutive wins by Eastern Conference teams over the West is 20, accomplished by the Boston Celtics from Feb. 11 - Nov. 23, 1973.

The Heat will also host Indiana, Sacramento and Atlanta on this homestand.

Utah will begin a five-game road trip Monday against Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Charlotte and Memphis, and is just 3-10 away from Salt Lake City.

The Jazz have lost five of their last seven games, including Saturday's 100-84 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Trey Burke tallied 20 points and five assists, while Gordon Hayward added 18 points and Marvin Williams scored 10.

"They (Spurs) know what to do, when to do and how to do it. They showed us. They just continued to execute," Jazz head coach Tyrone Corbin said.

Corbin's squad is 0-4 on the road against Eastern Conference opponents this season, but has won back-to-back games as the guest.

Utah and Miami split a pair of games last season with each team winning on its home floor. The Jazz have won four of the last six encounters with the Heat, but are just 1-8 in the past nine trips to AmericanAirlines Arena.
