Heat take win streak to Sacramento
Dec 27, 2013 - 3:44 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Heat will put their six-game winning streak on the line Friday night as their west-coast trip sends them to Sleep Train Arena to face the Sacramento Kings. The Heat's streak reached six with a 101-96 Christmas night victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade provided plenty of entertainment for families all over the world.
The first Wade and James connection came with just under four minutes to go in the opening frame. Wade threw a no-look pass over his head to a sprinting James, who emphatically slammed it home with his right hand.
The second dunk was even more extraordinary.
Wade dribbled past a pair of Lakers in transition and tossed a one-handed pass off the right side of the backboard. James finished the alley-oop by catching it with his weaker left hand and slamming it through while ducking his head out of harm's way.
It was an incredible display from Miami's two best players.
Wade had 23 points, seven assists and six rebounds, while James finished with 19 points and eight boards for Miami, which has won 19 consecutive regular- season games against Western Conference opponents. The Heat are one win away from matching the 1973 Boston Celtics' record 20-game winning streak against Western Conference counterparts.
Chris Bosh had 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Ray Allen added 12 off the bench.
Miami travels to Portland for a huge matchup Saturday night, then finishes the trip in Denver on Monday.
The Kings returned home after a 1-3 road trip to fall to the New Orleans Pelicans, 113-100 on Monday.
In his return to Sacramento, Tyreke Evans had 25 points and 12 assists -- both season-highs.
"I just wanted to go out there and play hard," said Evans, who spent the first four seasons of his career with the Kings. "We had a long road trip and I wanted to be aggressive and be able to push it up court."
DeMarcus Cousins paced the Kings with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Isaiah Thomas finished with 21 points, while Marcus Thornton had 19 off the bench. Rudy Gay chipped in 11 on 2-for-12 shooting.
Starters Jason Thompson and Ben McLemore combined for three points.
The Heat have won 10 straight against the Kings, including four straight and seven of eight in Sacramento.
