Suns aim to bounce back vs. lowly 76ers

Dec 28, 2013 - 4:04 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Phoenix Suns have played great ball of late, but will try to get back on course Saturday night versus the road-weary Philadelphia 76ers at US Airways Center.

The Suns had won three in a row and eight of their last nine until suffering a 115-86 setback at Golden State Friday night. Stephen Curry posted his second triple-double of the season with 14 points, 13 rebounds and 16 assists to lead the Warriors.

Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe struggled mightily, posting just eight and seven points, respectively, for the Suns, who got 11 points and 12 rebounds from P.J. Tucker and shot just 36 percent for the game. The Suns made only 4-of-23 3-pointers. The Warriors turned 17 Phoenix miscues into 22 points and built a 59-40 lead after a 25-8 run.

"Game 28 is the first egg we've laid for the season. So you're going to have those games every once in a while," Suns coach Jeff Hornacek told NBA.com. "I think they came out ready to play. They really attacked us, and we were slow to everything. Offensively we were slow to get in our spots to run off our sets. They pushed us anywhere they wanted."

Phoenix will try to extend its home winning streak to three games and is 5-1 in its last six in the desert. The Suns are 10-4 as the host.

The Sixers have dropped 12 straight on the road and haven't tasted victory outside of Philadelphia since their first away game, a 109-102 win in Washington on Nov. 1.

Philly headed west for five games after losing its last time out, a 116-106 setback to the Milwaukee Bucks. That game was last Saturday, which will give the Sixers their longest layoff in season, including the All-Star break, which only lasts six days.

Thaddeus Young had 30 points and 10 rebounds and Spencer Hawes tallied 25 points and 11 boards for the Sixers, who have lost eight of their last nine overall.

"Trying to find 48 minutes worth of defense has been a problem," Sixers head coach Brett Brown said.

Michael Carter-Williams finished with 19 points and 12 assists and Evan Turner was the only other 76er in double figures with 10 points on 2-for-15 shooting. Turner is listed as probable Saturday with a sore right knee.

Philly will visit the Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers before heading back to the City of Brotherly Love.

The Sixers have won four of their last five against the Suns, but are 5-21 in their last 26 in Phoenix.
