Streaking Warriors roll into Orlando

Dec 31, 2013 - 3:20 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Golden State Warriors got their seven-game road trip off to a good start and will try to extend their season-high winning streak to six games when they face the Orlando Magic Tuesday at Amway Center.

Golden State will take on seven teams from the East, including Miami, Atlanta, Washington, Milwaukee and Brooklyn, and posted its fifth win in a row with Sunday's 108-104 overtime triumph at Cleveland.

The Warriors trailed by as many as 17 points to the Cavaliers and were able to force an extra session by using a 17-15 edge in the fourth quarter. They scored nine of the 14 points in overtime, while David Lee provided a spark in the second half and OT with 19 points.

Steph Curry nearly posted his second straight triple-double and finished with 29 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds. Klay Thompson had 16 points, Andrew Bogut added 12 and Harrison Barnes rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points for the Warriors, who rallied from a deficit of at least 15-plus points for the third time this season.

"It wasn't quite in the fashion that we wanted to do it," Warriors reserve forward Draymond Green said. "One thing we talked about is showing some resolve. When things aren't going our way and everything's going their way, continue to fight and don't let go of the rope. On a road trip like this, to start out like that is great."

Golden State, which went 6-1 on a seven-game trek last December, has won two in a row on the road and pushed its away mark to 8-9 this season. The last time the Warriors won six in a row was from Nov. 23 - Dec. 2, 2007.

Orlando will put the finishing touches on a six-game homestand Tuesday and has won two in a row since losing the first three tests on the stay.

In Sunday's 109-102 win versus the Southeast-rival Atlanta Hawks, Arron Afflalo had 21 points and seven assists and Tobias Harris tallied 17 points for the Magic, who received 16 points apiece from Nikola Vucevic and Glen Davis. Vucevic also grabbed 14 rebounds and rookie Victor Oladipo scored 15 points in a winning effort.

"Tobias played really well for us and Moe Harkless did a great job for us off the bench," said Oladipo. "Weapons everywhere, we just have to continue to build on it."

A 17-6 run early on spurred the Magic to victory and lifted their home record to 7-9 this season.

Orlando will play six of its next seven games on the road and took both meetings with Golden State a season ago. The Magic have won three straight, eight of nine and 10 of the last 12 meetings with Golden State, which is winless in its last four games in the Magic Kingdom.

The Warriors are just 3-16 in the previous 19 trips to Orlando.
