Nuggets, Suns clash in Phoenix

Jan 19, 2014 - 3:37 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Phoenix Suns have struggled of late, but will try to right the ship on Sunday night when they welcome the Denver Nuggets to US Airways Center.

The Suns have lost four of their last five, highlighted by Friday's 110-107 setback at home to the Dallas Mavericks.

Goran Dragic scored a game-high 28 points on 12-of-20 shooting and also dished out seven assists. Markieff Morris added 23 points and 12 rebounds, Marcus Morris had 13 points and seven boards and P.J. Tucker donated 11 points and nine rebounds for the Suns.

Tucker got a great look in the corner for a game-tying 3-pointer, but it didn't fall. Markieff Morris missed a few putback attempts and the Mavs left with the victory.

"I couldn't have had a better look, I couldn't believe I was that open, especially in the corner. It was just one of those days, I was already celebrating. It did everything but go down," said Tucker.

The Suns will host the Indiana Pacers and Washington Wizards on this residency.

The Nuggets have lost two of three since their five-game winning streak.

On Friday, the Nuggets fell at home to the Cleveland Cavaliers, 117-109.

Wilson Chandler scored 23 points and Ty Lawson deposited a double-double with 19 points and 11 assists for Denver, which had a four-game home winning streak snapped.

Nate Robinson added 19 points off the bench and Randy Foye made four 3- pointers en route to a 16-point outing. Timofey Mozgov had 10 points and 11 boards in the setback.

The Nuggets were done in by a disastrous second quarter. Cleveland scored 42 points in the second on 65.4 percent shooting.

"That 42-point second quarter just along with all the fouling in the game hurt us in the long run," Denver head coach Brian Shaw said.

The Nuggets finish a short road trip Thursday in Portland.

The Suns have won both of this season's matchups, one in Denver and one in Phoenix. The Nuggets have taken eight of the last 11 matchups overall, but have lost 14 of their last 17 stops in Phoenix.
