Pacers begin western trek against Warriors

Jan 20, 2014 - 3:36 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Indiana Pacers embark on a five-game western road trip Monday night, starting at Oracle Arena where they'll face the Golden State Warriors.

Indiana, which owns the second-best road record in the Eastern Conference at 11-6, heads west armed with a four-game winning streak. The Pacers will visit Phoenix, Sacramento, Denver and the L.A. Lakers on this odyssey.

On Saturday, the Pacers clobbered the Los Angeles Clippers, 106-92.

Paul George poured in 36 points and Lance Stephenson flirted with a triple- double at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. George shot 12-of-17 from the floor, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc, while Stephenson tallied 22 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists in Indiana's fourth straight win overall and third straight over L.A. dating back to last season.

The Pacers had to do battle without David West in the second half. He was ejected for a flagrant 2 foul at the very end of the first half. West got tangled with Clippers forward Blake Griffin under the basket and swung his arm, making contact with Griffin's head. West had just four points and two rebounds in 15 first-half minutes.

Luis Scola was in foul trouble, so head coach Frank Vogel played Danny Granger some at the power forward spot.

"I was proud of Danny Granger for coming in and playing extended minutes, and playing some at power forward, which he hasn't played in a couple years," said Vogel. "He really battled Blake Griffin and gave us some critical, critical minutes in a tough matchup."

Granger finished with 12 points.

The Warriors ended a two-game losing streak with a 97-87 road victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night.

Steph Curry tallied 28 points and eight assists to guide the Warriors over the shorthanded Pelicans at New Orleans Arena. Curry also had six rebounds and four steals for the Warriors.

David Lee scored 22 points with eight rebounds while Andrew Bogut shot a perfect 5-of-5 for 10 points, 15 boards and five blocked shots. Jordan Crawford added 10 off the bench in just his second game with the Warriors.

"It was a big bounce back win for us. I thought the first half we were not as sharp, but the second half we regrouped, we battled defensively, and we took care of the basketball. It was just a quality win for us," said Warriors coach Mark Jackson.

The Warriors play five in a row at home with the Timberwolves, Trail Blazers, Wizards and Clippers scheduled for visits.

The Pacers have won four of the last five meetings between the two squads. Indiana has lost five of its last six as the visitor in this series.
