Durant leads OKC into showdown with Spurs

The NBA's leading scorer with 30.9 points per game will try to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to another victory over the San Antonio Spurs when the two Western powers collide Wednesday in the Alamo City.

Durant has scored 30 or more points in each of his last eight games, averaging 39.3 ppg in that time, and dropped 46 points on Portland in a 105-97 victory on Tuesday. He made 17-of-25 shots and sank 6-of-7 3-pointers for the Thunder, who shot 48.3 percent for the game and received 15 points from Reggie Jackson.

Serge Ibaka and Derek Fisher both had 10 points in the win, as the Thunder pulled away at the end and fended off a Blazers rally.

"We didn't give up," OKC center Kendrick Perkins said. "The time we went down five, we had to get a stop and we did it. I just felt like we're growing. You can tell on the defensive end. They hit some shots. Portland is a good team, and they make shots. We started making them miss."

Durant, meanwhile, has compiled 130 points over his last three games.

The Thunder have won four in a row and will also visit Boston and Philadelphia on their three-game road trip. Oklahoma City will play six of seven games on the road and has a 13-7 mark as the visitor.

San Antonio has won seven of its last eight games and recorded a 110-82 victory over the lowly Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday. Patty Mills had 20 points and seven assists, Tim Duncan added 11 points and 13 rebounds and Marco Belinelli netted 14 points in the win.

The Spurs shot 56.6 percent from the field, made 11-of-18 from beyond the arc and outrebounded the Bucks, 55-37. They limited Milwaukee to a 37.5 percent (33-of-88) clip from the field.

"It's the way they play," said Bucks guard Gary Neal, who spent the first three years of his career in San Antonio. "They move the ball. They make the right play, and they hit the open shot."

Spurs guard Tony Parker missed the game with a bruised shin and is probable Wednesday versus the Thunder. He is averaging 17.9 points per game.

The Spurs have scored 100-plus points in 12 straight games, the longest stretch since turning the trick in 13 consecutive games back in 1995-96. They are 27-6 when hitting the century mark this season.

After hosting the Thunder, San Antonio, which is 17-6 in the Alamo City, will play three straight on the road against Atlanta, Miami and Houston.

San Antonio has lost the first two meetings with Oklahoma City this season and is winless in the past three matchups between the clubs. The Thunder have dropped 13 of 16 games at the Spurs.
