Bobcats open western trip in Denver

The Nuggets' two-game winning streak comes on the heels of losing three straight and four of five games, and reached its point with Sunday's 125-117 victory at Sacramento. Ty Lawson scored 27 points to go with six assists, while Wilson Chandler tallied 20 points and Kenneth Faried added a double- double of 15 points and 11 rebounds.
"In a second night of a back-to-back we came in here and handled our business and did what we had to do," said Nuggets coach Brian Shaw. "The guys know they have the day off tomorrow and I told them to leave it all out on the floor tonight."
It helped that Denver made 51.9 percent of its shots and held the Kings to just 8-of-22 shooting in the fourth quarter. The Nuggets had a 30-24 advantage over the final 12 minutes.
Lawson has recorded a double-double in 11 of his last 13 games for the Nuggets, who have scored 100 or more points in 13 straight games and improved to 10-0 this season when shooting 50 percent or better from the floor. Lawson is listed as questionable Wednesday with a balky shoulder and leads the Nuggets in points (17.9) and assists (8.9).
Denver also toppled mighty Indiana on this quick winning streak and has a 12-9 record in the Mile High City. It will also host Toronto, the Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee on the stay.
Charlotte will open a three-game western road trip Wednesday against Denver, the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix, and is 8-14 away from home.
In Saturday's 89-87 loss to the Chicago Bulls, one game after Carmelo Anthony poured in 62 points in a win for the New York Knicks, Al Jefferson registered 32 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, posting his ninth straight game with at least 20 points. He has 19 double-doubles this season.
"We went through a little time where we couldn't make shots. They double- teamed me and did a good job of keeping the ball out of my hands," Jefferson said.
Jefferson has posted at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in five of his last six games. Jannero Pargo scored a season-high 15 points in defeat for Charlotte, which has lost two straight, three of five and 12 of its last 17 contests.
The Bobcats are giving up only 97.2 points per game, the sixth-lowest average in the NBA and are 10-2 this season when scoring 100 points or more. They haven't reached 100 points in each of the last three games.
In injury news for Charlotte, guard Ben Gordon (illness) is questionable against the Nuggets. Denver took both meetings with Charlotte last season and the two clubs will meet again March 10 at Time Warner Cable Arena.
The Nuggets have won four in a row and 12 of the last 16 matchups with the Bobcats, who have dropped five straight and seven of their eight trips to the Rocky Mountains.
