Bulls continue long road trip in New Orleans
Feb 1, 2014 - 3:03 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Bulls will resume a six-game road trip Saturday versus the New Orleans Pelicans in the Big Easy. The Bulls opened the trip with Wednesday's 96-86 victory over the San Antonio Spurs, as Jimmy Butler led seven Bulls in double figures with 19. Carlos Boozer tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Joakim Noah added 10 points, 10 boards, eight assists and four blocks for Chicago, which has won five of its last seven games.
"We're taking steps in the right direction," Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich said.
Noah received his second consecutive All-Star berth Thursday night. He will be a reserve for the Eastern Conference team.
The Bulls are 10-12 away from home and will also visit Sacramento, Phoenix, Golden State and the Los Angeles Lakers on the current trip.
New Orleans will open a four-game homestand Saturday versus Chicago, San Antonio, Atlanta and Minnesota.
The Pelicans had won three in a row and four of five games until dropping an 88-77 decision to Minnesota on Wednesday.
Anthony Davis was held out of the New Orleans lineup because of soreness in his left index finger, which he dislocated in Tuesday's win over Cleveland. Pelicans coach Monty Williams said before the game that sitting the former No. 1 pick just made sense.
"We could've held him out last night, but he was so adamant about playing that I let him go," Williams said, according to the team's website. "Now we have to be his brains and make sure he doesn't hurt his finger more. But he should be ready for our next game."
Al-Farouq Aminu scored 18 points and Eric Gordon added 14 for the Pelicans, who are 10-11 at home.
The Pelicans hope to have Davis for Saturday's game and he is listed as probable.
New Orleans defeated Chicago, 131-128 in triple overtime on Dec. 2 in Chicago. The Bulls have won nine of 11 meetings in this series and five in a row in the Big Easy.
