Drummond, Pistons pound Sixers

Feb 2, 2014 - 6:19 AM Auburn Hills, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Andre Drummond scored 22 to lead four Pistons with 20-plus points in Detroit's 113-96 drubbing of the ailing Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.

Drummond shot 10-of-11 from the field and grabbed 14 rebounds with five blocked shots for the Pistons, who have won four in a row against Philly. Greg Monroe donated 21 points, 12 rebounds and four steals while Brandon Jennings and Kyle Singler netted 20 points apiece in the rout.

"When Greg is having a game like that, it makes it easy for me," said Drummond. "They're focusing on him and when he does miss a shot, I'm usually there to tip it back in."

Tony Wroten started for rookie Michael Carter-Williams, who was a late scratch with a sore right shoulder, and led the Sixers with 18 points in the setback. Evan Turner and Elliot Williams had 15 points each, and Thaddeus Young went for 14 points with five steals.

"It's definitely tough when you're losing basketball games," said Young. "But we can't let that deter what we're trying to do or get off of the path we're trying to take."

The Pistons blew the game open in the third period. They led 57-49 at halftime but opened the second half scoring six quick points, all in the paint.

"I thought how we started this second half was poor," said Philadelphia head coach Brett Brown.

Later in the frame, Singler bookended an 11-0 Detroit sprint with a pair of 3- pointers to give the hosts a 79-56 edge.

The lead grew to 24 points on consecutive Jennings treys less than 30 seconds apart late in the third. It was 93-70 heading into the fourth and the Sixers never got closer than 15 the rest of the way.

Earlier, Monroe and Drummond both reached double figures in the first nine minutes of the contest to stake the Pistons to a 32-22 lead after the first quarter.
