Thunder roll into Magic Kingdom

Feb 7, 2014 - 3:23 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oklahoma City Thunder were unsuccessful their last time out on the road and hope to find prosperity Friday against the Orlando Magic at Amway Center.

The Thunder dropped a 96-81 decision at Washington last Saturday, but rebounded with back-to-back home victories versus Memphis and Minnesota. In Wednesday's 106-97 triumph over the Timberwolves, NBA leading scorer Kevin Durant (31,0 ppg) had 26 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

Reggie Jackson and Serge Ibaka scored 20 and 14 points, respectively, in the win and Derek Fisher added 13 points. The Thunder used a 12-2 run spanning the end of the third quarter and beginning of the fourth quarter to take a comfortable lead and become the first team in the league with 40 wins.

"I thought we played good defense for only about four minutes in the first quarter and then in the fourth quarter. Other than that we didn't play the kind of defense we usually do," Thunder head coach Scott Brooks said.

Oklahoma City, which has won 12 of its last 13 games, dodged a bullet with Wolves star forward Kevin Love sidelined with a stiff neck.

The Thunder are 18-8 as the visitor and had won six in a row away from home until losing at the Wizards.

Orlando will resume its four-game homestand Friday and opened the stay with Wednesday's 112-98 triumph over the Detroit Pistons.

Victor Oladipo scored 20 points, Glen Davis had 18 and both Arron Afflalo and Maurice Harkless netted 15 points in the win, Orlando's third straight at home and second overall in the last seven tries. The Magic outscored the Pistons 31-17 in the second quarter and led by as many as 20 points in the second half.

"Hopefully we can just keep building off this into the next game," Harkless said afterward.

The Magic are 11-14 in central Florida this season and will also welcome Indiana and Memphis to Amway Center on this homestand.

Orlando dropped a 101-98 decision at Oklahoma City on Dec. 15 and has lost five straight and seven of the last nine matchups between the teams. The Thunder, though, have lost 11 of the last 15 trips to Orlando.
