Oct 18, 2006 - 2:51 AM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The New York Knicks look like they mean business this season.Jamal Crawford scored 22 points off the bench and Eddy Curry added 19 as the Knicks remain undefeated in the preseason with an 116-108 victory over the Boston Celtics.
New York (3-0) has been impressive this preseason under new coach Isiah Thomas, who also serves as president. The Knicks struggled through the worst campaign in franchise history last season, going just 23-59 with the highest payroll in the league. They have not made the postseason since 2004.
Quentin Richardson scored on a layup, then found David Lee for a baseline jam on to build a 105-99 advantage with just over three minutes remaining.
Richardson collected 15 points and eight rebounds and Channing Frye chipped in 14 points before fouling out for New York, which shot 48 percent (39-of-81) from the field.
Wally Szczerbiak and Tony Allen scored 18 points apiece for the Celtics, who shot 44 percent (37-of-83) and held a 34-24 advantage to start the second quarter. Rookie Rajon Rondo added 14 points and seven assists.
Boston was without captain Paul Pierce, who sat out with a strained left hip.
