Streaking Rockets welcome Wizards to Houston
Feb 12, 2014 - 3:04 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The streaking Houston Rockets make a pit stop at home Wednesday when they face the Washington Wizards at the Toyota Center. The Rockets are in the midst of playing seven of eight games on the road and will open a five-game road trip after hosting the Wizards.
Houston won its sixth game in a row with Monday's 107-89 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, as Dwight Howard posted 18 points and 15 rebounds for his 34th double-double of the season. Howard has recorded three straight double-doubles and is averaging 21.1 points and 11.6 rebounds in his last 14 games.
Chandler Parsons tallied 20 points and six assists, while James Harden added 19 points for Houston.
"We didn't try to rush shots and rush down the floor and take bad shots. We took our time, shared the ball and got good shots," Howard said.
The Rockets, who are third in the NBA in scoring with 105.3 ppg, have won three in a row at home and have a 21-7 record as the host. They have won their last 13 games when scoring 100 or more points.
Washington opened a quick two-game road trip before the All-Star break with Tuesday's 92-89 loss at Memphis.
Bradley Beal pumped in a career-high 37 points and Nene added 17 for the Wizards, who got only five points from All-Star John Wall. Wall entered the game averaging 20.9 points in his previous seven contests.
"I just didn't make shots and I wasn't aggressive like I usually am on the defensive end. You could say fatigue or tired, but it wasn't (any) of that," admitted Wall.
The Wizards have lost three of four games and fell to 12-13 on the road.
Washington dropped a 114-107 home decision to Houston on Jan. 11 and has lost five of six and 21 of the last 27 matchups in this series. The Wizards have lost four in a row, 10 of 11 and 20 of their last 23 trips to Space City.
