Martin leads Nuggets over Pacers before leaving with injury

Oct 19, 2006 - 2:26 AM CINCINNATI, Ohio (Ticker) -- Another injury spoiled a great night for Kenyon Martin.

Martin scored 20 points before leaving with an injury in the Denver Nuggets' 114-102 preseason victory over the Indiana Pacers.

Last season, Martin was limited to a career-low 56 games after undergoing left knee surgery prior to the campaign. The emotional forward also was suspended during the Nuggets' first-round playoff loss to the Los Angeles Clippers for a locker room tirade directed at coach George Karl.

Martin played with plenty of energy Wednesday, making 7-of-13 shots and grabbing eight rebounds before leaving the game with 3:32 remaining in the third quarter after getting kneed in the left quadriceps. However, the team said after the game that it was not serious and Martin will not miss any time.

Andre Miller collected 13 points and seven assists and Eduardo Najera had 12 points for Denver, which shot 46 percent (38-of-83).

Stephen Jackson scored 13 points for the Pacers, who lost star forward Jermaine O'Neal to a hamstring injury.
