Boozer leads Jazz past Blazers
Oct 20, 2006 - 4:08 AM SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- Carlos Boozer was on top of his game against the Portland Trail Blazers.Boozer scored 23 points and Mehmet Okur had a double-double as the Utah Jazz coasted to an 104-90 victory over the Trail Blazers, who remained winless in the preseason.
A 6-9 forward, Boozer made 8-of-13 shots and grabbed seven rebounds for Utah, which jumped out to a commanding 31-17 advantage after one quarter and never looked back.
Andrei Kirilenko recorded 15 points, seven assists and six blocks and Okur added 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Jazz, who shot 51 percent (40-of-78) and forced 20 turnovers. Kirilenko missed the previous two games due to lower back problems.
Zach Randolph scored 17 points, while first-round pick Brandon Roy and Ime Udoka contributed 16 apiece for the Blazers, who shot just 40 percent (30-of-74).
Joel Przybilla left in the first quarter after getting stitches in his chin, but did return one period later. He finished with four points and two steals for Portland, which was outscored, 60-36, in the paint.
