Redick debuts as Magic rout Grizzlies

Oct 22, 2006 - 2:07 AM ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- A second-quarter parade to the foul line helped the Orlando Magic march past the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Magic made 18-of-22 free throws in a 38-point second period and rolled to a 112-89 preseason victory over the Grizzlies.

Pat Garrity scored 18 points to lead seven players in double figures for the Magic, who shot 48 percent (34-of-71) from the field and sank 38-of-46 from the line.

Orlando opened a 28-21 lead after one quarter and pulled away in the second period. Dwight Howard scored 10 of his 15 points to help the Magic widen the advantage to 66-37 at the break.

Rookie guard J.J. Redick made his debut for the Magic. Sidelined with a back injury, the first-round pick missed his only shot, a 3-pointer.

Rookies Kyle Lowry (13) and Rudy Gay (9) combined for 22 points for Memphis, which shot just 35.5 percent (27-of-76) and made 33-of-42 free throws while committing 21 turnovers.

Pau Gasol, Mike Miller, Eddie Jones and Brian Cardinal did not play for the Grizzlies. Grant Hill, Darko Milicic and Trevor Ariza sat out for the Magic.
