Calderon gives Raptors last-second win over Celtics

Oct 26, 2006 - 2:22 AM BOSTON (Ticker) -- Jose Calderon helped the Toronto Raptors remain unbeaten in the preseason.

Calderon nailed the go-ahead free throws in the waning seconds and Morris Peterson added 21 points as the Raptors posted an 106-102 preseason victory over the Boston Celtics.

With newly acquired starting point guard T.J. Ford out with a sore hamstring, Calderon scored 19 points and handed out seven assists in 32 minutes for Toronto (7-0), which has its best preseason record in franchise history.

Calderon's free throws came after he was fouled on a drive to the basket by former top overall pick Michael Olowokandi.

Peterson shot 8-of-15 from the field and Kris Humphries netted 13 points for the Raptors, who shot just 39.5 percent (34-of-86). All-Star forward Chris Bosh also sat out with a sore left heel.

Wally Szczerbiak scored 27 points and Sebastian Telfair added 21 for the Celtics, who committed 21 turnovers leading to 30 points for Toronto.

Boston All-Star swingman Paul Pierce did not play with an infected left middle finger but is expected to be ready for the regular season.
