Brown shines in OT as Cavs edge Pistons

CLEVELAND (Ticker) - After what can only be described as a miserable first four quarters, Shannon Brown saved his best for last.

Brown scored five of his nine points in the extra session to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 96-90 overtime victory over the Detroit Pistons in Thursday's preseason matchup.

LeBron James netted 17 points and newcomer Devin Brown added 10 and 10 rebounds for Cleveland, which used a 22-2 burst between the third and fourth quarter to force overtime.

Brown drained a jumper and followed with a 3-pointer to give Cleveland the lead for good, 92-86, with 2:20 left. The former Michigan State standout went 2-of-8 from the floor with five turnovers prior to OT.

After Dwayne Jones made a pair of free throws with four-tenths of a second left, Detroit rookie guard Rodney Stuckey had a chance to win it in regulation, but missed a jumper from the top of the key as the buzzer sounded.

The Pistons appeared closer to mid-season form, building an impressive 62-44 bulge midway through the third quarter.

Richard Hamilton, Chauncey Billups and rookie Arron Afflalo all finished with 12 points for the Pistons, who shot 36 percent (31-of-84) and forced 27 turnovers.
