Redick, Magic rout undermanned Heat

Oct 13, 2007 - 1:51 AM ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- With Rashard Lewis sidelined, J.J. Redick showed off his game for the Orlando Magic.

Redick scored 19 points and Dwight Howard added 13, 10 rebounds and eight blocks as the Magic routed the shorthanded Miami Heat, 102-69, in a preseason contest on Friday night.

Keith Bogans had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Magic, who took advantage of the Heat's cast of reserves. Miami superstars Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O'Neal did not play.

Lewis signed a franchise-record six-year, $110 million contract after a sign-and-trade deal with the Seattle SuperSonics was completed in the offseason. But he has had a rocky start to his career in Orlando.

The 6-10 Lewis was forced to leave his preseason debut on Monday with cramps and left Wednesday's game with a right ankle injury. He had two points on 1-of-3 shooting and a rebound before leaving with 41 seconds left in the first quarter of Wednesday's contest.

Lewis did not play at all in this one, but the Magic were not short on offensive firepower.

Redick, who struggled through last season with a nagging back injury, showed why he was one of the deadliest shooters in the country during his celebrated four-year college career at Duke.

He shot 5-of-6 from the field - nailing all three of his 3-pointers - and 6-of-7 from the free-throw line in just 25 minutes for Orlando, which nailed 13-of-23 shots from the arc.

Alonzo Mourning and Antoine Walker scored 11 points apiece for the Heat, who were outscored, 28-9, in the third quarter. Rookie Daequan Cook scored just two points on 1-of-5 shooting for Miami.
