Anthony shines as Nuggets coast by Blazers

Oct 13, 2007 - 3:51 AM BOULDER, Colorado (Ticker) -- Carmelo Anthony had 22 points and seven rebounds and Linas Kleiza scored 19 as the Denver Nuggets rolled to a 118-102 preseason triumph over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday.

Allen Iverson poured in 17 points and Marcus Camby added 14 for Denver, which shot 45 percent (38-of-83) from the floor and forced 25 turnovers.

The Nuggets pulled away after intermission, outscoring the Trail Blazers, 33-23, in the third quarter to carry an 18-point bulge into the final period.

Martell Webster led the way for Portland, netting 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Webster is in a heated battle with Travis Outlaw for the starting small forward spot in the rotation.

However, Outlaw continues to make Blazers coach Nate McMillan's decision difficult as the fourth-year pro scored 18 points in 31 minutes.

Newcomer Channing Frye had 11 points and six boards and LaMarcus Aldridge chipped in 10 and eight for Portland, which opens its 2007-08 campaign vs. the defending champion San Antonio Spurs on October 30.
