O'Neal scores 14 as Pacers top SuperSonics

Oct 14, 2007 - 1:46 AM INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Jermaine O'Neal scored 14 points in his first game following offseason knee surgery as the Indiana Pacers defeated the Seattle SuperSonics, 97-87, in a preseason contest Saturday.

In April, O'Neal, Indiana's leading scorer last season, underwent surgery to repair torn cartilage in his left knee. He did not play in Indiana's preseason opener on Wednesday due to soreness in the knee.

O'Neal started against the Sonics and played 23 minutes, making 5-of-12 shots. He grabbed seven rebounds, handed out four assists and blocked three shots.

Travis Diener scored 15 points to lead the Pacers, who have won their first two exhibition games.

Mike Dunleavy also recorded 14 points and Danny Granger chipped in with 12 for Indiana.

Rookie Kevin Durant registered 21 points and Jeff Green tallied 14 to pace Seattle, which has dropped two of its first three exhibition outings.

Durant played 35 minutes, making 6-of-13 shots, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range.
