Hill leads balanced effort in Suns' blowout win
Oct 19, 2007 - 5:39 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Grant Hill scored 21 points to lead five players in double figures as the Phoenix Suns routed the Los Angeles Clippers, 118-97, in exhibition action on Thursday.Hill, who signed with the Suns in the offseason after spending the last six seasons with the Orlando Magic, went 8-of-9 from the field, scoring all of his points in the first half as Phoenix established a 65-49 lead after two quarters.
The versatile 12-year veteran played only three minutes into the third quarter before exiting.
Leandro Barbosa added 19 points and Raja Bell poured in 15 for the Suns, who have scored at least 106 points in each of the four games they have played in the preseason.
Shawn Marion and Boris Diaw each posted 12 points.
Corey Maggette scored 16 points to pace the Clippers, who held an eight-point lead with 7:31 remaining in the second quarter until the Suns went on a 30-6 run to end the half.
Amare Stoudemire sat out his fourth consecutive game following offseason surgery to his right knee. Elton Brand (left Achilles), Shaun Livingston (left knee surgery) and Cuttino Mobley (strained left calf) all sat out, nursing injuries for Los Angeles.
