Williams, Bucks down Timberwolves

Oct 21, 2007 - 3:50 AM MILWAUKEE (Ticker) - In their last tuneup on their home floor, Mo Williams and the Milwaukee Bucks took advantage of a fatigued Minnesota Timberwolves team for a 106-97 victory on Saturday night.

Williams, the team's leading scorer in the preseason, led the Bucks with 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting and added 12 assists. Michael Redd chipped in his high point total of the preseason with 18 points for the Bucks, who snapped a two-game preseason slide.

The Timberwolves, coming off Friday's double-overtime victory over the Pacers, got off to a fast start, leading by as many as 10 points in the first quarter, but were unable to hold on down the stretch.

Despite trailing by as many as 14 points with 6:08 remaining in the third quarter, the Timberwolves, led by rookie Corey Brewer's best game of the preseason, closed within two points on Ryan Gomes' 3-pointer with 5:21 remaining but got no closer.

Brewer led all scorers with 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field and 3-of-3 from 3-point range. Al Jefferson contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds in 27 minutes of play.

Milwaukee got a good game out of rookie forward Yi Jianlian, who scored 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting. The forward from China also pulled down 12 rebounds and blocked a shot.
