James and Cavaliers host Thomas' Knicks

Nov 2, 2007 - 1:24 PM CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- LeBron James' season debut did not go according to plan. Meanwhile, Isiah Thomas and the New York Knicks are just happy the season is finally here.

James looks to rebound from a poor outing when the Cavaliers host the Knicks on Friday.

James, who led the Cavaliers to the Finals last season, scored just 10 points on 2-of-11 shooting and committed five turnovers in a 92-74 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night.

While James' woes were on the court, Thomas and the Knicks went through a tumultuous offseason and will be glad to finally play a game.

Thomas and star guard Stephon Marbury were embroiled in a sexual harrassment case that became a public relations disaster.

The Knicks made some major changes in the offseason in an attempt to reach the playoffs for the first time in four seasons. They acquired forward Zach Randolph and guard Fred Jones from Portland for forward Channing Frye and shipped out Steve Francis to Houston.

The 6-9 Randolph averaged a career-high 23.7 points and 10.1 rebounds for the Trail Blazers a season ago, but will have to find a way to co-exist with Eddy Curry, who is a similar type of player.

Curry also averaged a career-high 19.7 points in his first season with the Knicks.

Both Curry and Randolph are post players that can dominate on their own and are used to being the "go-to guy" on a team. How they mesh will be a big indicator of good New York will be.

The teams split four meetings last season.
