Magic, Timberwolves getting used to offseason changes

Nov 6, 2007 - 2:17 PM Orlando (2-1) at Minnesota (0-2) 8:00 pm EST

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- The Orlando Magic are having success with Rashard Lewis already. The Minnesota Timberwolves are still trying to figure out where their newcomers fit.

The Magic will be looking for their third win of the young season when they visit the Timberwolves on Tuesday.

Lewis, who signed a $118 million contract in the offseason, has been a perfect addition to the team, averaging 21.7 points and leading the team in shooting at 56.4 percent.

Lewis' most important contribution to Orlando has been his ability to command a double team, opening up the floor for Hedo Turkoglu, who is averaging 22.0 points, and Dwight Howard, who is pulling down 13.3 rebounds per game.

Minnesota had the most turnover of any team in the offseason, trading franchise player Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics for five players and a pair of first-round draft picks.

Only five players remain from last season's team.

Rashard McCants, who played in just 37 games last season, is leading the team in scoring at 18.0 points per game. Newcomers Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Greg Buckner, and Theo Ratliff also are averaging double figures.

The team's split the two-game season series last season.
