SuperSonics, Kings searching for first win of season

Nov 6, 2007 - 2:33 PM Seattle (0-3) at Sacramento (0-3) 10:00 pm EST

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- Two teams searching for their first win of the new season meet Tuesday when the Seattle SuperSonics take on the Sacramento Kings.

The Sonics are 0-3 for the first time since the 1985-86 season and a loss on Tuesday would give them their first 0-4 start since 1977-78.

Seattle hasn't even been close to victory, suffering double-digit losses in two of its first three games while allowing 113.7 points a game, second worst in the NBA.

Despite the winless start, rookie Kevin Durant has not disappointed. The 19-year-old swingman leads the Sonics and all NBA rookies, averaging 23.0 points and six rebounds a game. The No. 2 overall selection in June's draft, Durant won the 2007 Naismith Award during his lone season at the University of Texas.

The Kings also have had trouble stopping opposing offenses this season, ranking fifth worst in the league by allowing 107.7 points per game.

Sacramento has not been helped by the absence of its two best players. Point guard Mike Bibby is expected to miss the next eight to 10 weeks after undergoing surgery last Tuesday to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb while forward Ron Artest sits out a seven-game suspension stemming from a domestic abuse altercation during last season.

The Kings, who were just 20-21 at Arco Arena last season, try to avoid starting the season 0-4 for the first time since the 1997-98 campaign.
