Miller, Nuggets use balanced attack to down Clippers

Oct 28, 2006 - 5:24 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Andre Miller got everyone involved in the Denver Nuggets' preseason finale.

DerMarr Johnson scored 17 points and Miller added 15 as the Nuggets posted a 112-86 preseason victory over the Los Angeles Clippers in a rematch of last season's first-round playoff matchup.

Miller shot 6-of-11 from the field and handed out nine assists for Denver, which had six players score in double figures. Johnson, the sixth overall pick in 2000, shot 6-of-7 from the floor and 4-of-4 from beyond the arc.

Newly-acquired shooting guard J.R. Smith had 14 points and Kenyon Martin added 13 for the Nuggets, who shot 47 percent (35-of-74).

Star forward Carmelo Anthony did not play after logging 30 minutes on Thursday.

Corey Maggette scored 16 points and Elton Brand and Cuttino Mobley added 14 apiece for the Clippers, who shot a dismal 30 percent (27-of-91).

The teams open the regular season on Thursday night in Los Angeles.
