Timberwolves seeking first win in post-Garnett era
Nov 10, 2007 - 2:42 PM Minnesota (0-4) at Sacramento (1-4) 10:00 pm ESTSACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) - The post-Kevin Garnett era has gotten off to a bad start for the Minnesota Timberwolves, but they hope to get a first win against an equally struggling Sacramento Kings squad Saturday night at Arco Arena.
While Garnett and his new club, the Boston Celtics, are the only unbeaten team in the NBA, the Timberwolves are one of five teams looking to break into the win column.
Minnesota's latest setback was Friday's 107-93 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Three players who came over from the Celtics played well in the loss. Al Jefferson had 20 points and 10 rebounds, Ryan Gomes scored 17 points and Sebastian Telfair added 15.
Sacramento, which is without forward Ron Artest and point guard Mike Bibby, has lost four of its first five games. Artest is sitting out a season-opening seven-game suspension while Bibby is out six to eight weeks with a thumb injury.
In their latest loss Friday, the Kings were victimized by LeBron James for 19 points in the second half as they dropped a 93-91 decision to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Kevin Martin scored 32 points and John Salmons and Francisco Garcia scored 18 apiece for the Kings, who failed to sell out for the second straight game this season after 354 consecutive full houses.
