Martin, Kings hit road to face Jazz

Nov 12, 2007 - 3:16 PM Sacramento (2-4) at Utah (5-2) 9:00 pm EST

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (Ticker) -- The Sacramento Kings hope to build of their recent success when they visit the Utah Jazz on Monday night.

Kevin Martin, John Salmons and Brad Miller all contributed in a huge way as the Kings held off the Minnesota Timberwolves, 100-93, on Saturday.

"Both teams were tired," Kings coach Reggie Theus said. "Both teams played real hard games (Saturday). But we have to win our home games, the games we're supposed to win. I thought this was a must win for us."

Perhaps the NBA's best-kept secret, the 24-year-old Martin continues to give opponents problems with his rare ability to score from different areas of the floor.

Kings rookie Spencer Hawes made his NBA debut in the win, scoring just two points in six minutes off the bench. Taken 10th overall in June's draft, Hawes was sidelined to start the season with a knee injury.

Utah enters riding a three-game winning streak after thrashing the Memphis Grizzlies, 118-94, here on Saturday behind Andrei Kirilenko, who fell one assists shy of a triple-double.

With Sacramento's lack of an interior defense, Jazz forward Carlos Boozer should cause problems in the paint. He has a double-double in six of seven games this season.
