Paul, Hornets go for third straight win

Nov 14, 2007 - 2:19 PM Philadelphia (2-5) at New Orleans (6-2) 8:00 pm EST

NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) - Chris Paul will hope to continue his great start as the New Orleans Hornets look for their third consecutive victory when they host the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.

Paul is averaging 19.3 points and 10.6 rebounds over the first eight games of the season. He hit the game-winning layup and scored a season-high 27 points in the Hornets' 84-82 triumph over the New Jersey Nets on Monday.

Paul's play is not the only reason for the Hornets' success. They also are playing great defense, allowing less than 90 points per game.

Paul leads the club with 2.9 steals per game, while Tyson Chandler is dominating the boards, pulling down 11.6 rebounds per contest.

The Sixers will hope to bounce back from a disappointing 99-84 setback to the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday. Andre Iguodala had 15 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists for Philadelphia, which blew a 50-43 halftime lead to lose its third straight game.
