Spurs take on Hawks in first Eastern Conference contest

Nov 20, 2007 - 2:59 PM San Antonio (8-2) at Atlanta (3-6) 7:00 pm EST

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs routinely have had their way with the Atlanta Hawks.

The Spurs aim to continue their success against the Hawks when the teams square off Tuesday in Atlanta.

San Antonio swept the season series from Atlanta last season, winning by an average margin of 10.5 points. During Duncan's brilliant NBA career, the Spurs are 14-4 against the Hawks.

The Spurs are coming off Friday's sluggish 90-84 victory over the Houston Rockets.

Despite the absence of injured Rockets superstar Tracy McGrady, San Antonio was unable to shake Houston until the final minute of regulation.

Duncan scored a season-high 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while Manu Ginobili added 19 points for the Spurs.

The Hawks hope to rebound from Saturday's 105-96 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks despite a career-high 38 points from Josh Smith.
