Marbury, struggling Knicks return home to host Warriors

Nov 20, 2007 - 4:33 PM Golden State (2-6) at New York (2-7) 7:30 pm EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Stephon Marbury and the New York Knicks must be happy to return home from one of their worst road trips in recent memory.

The Knicks aim to snap their six-game skid Tuesday when they return home to host the Golden State Warriors.

Mired in their longest losing streak under embattled coach Isiah Thomas, the Knicks went 0-4 on their recent West Coast road trip.

The trek was marred by a controversy involving Marbury, who left the team last Tuesday upon learning that he would not start in the team's game against the Phoenix Suns.

A Brooklyn native, the mercurial Marbury returned to the team the following day and came off the bench in an 84-81 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Marbury played just 16 minutes off the bench in Saturday's embarrassing 115-83 loss to the Denver Nuggets.

The Knicks are in their longest losing streak since a nine-game skid under then-coach Larry Brown from March 19-April 4, 2006.

Conversely, the Warriors have won consecutive decisions after beginning the season with six straight losses.

A key to Golden State's success has been the return of forward Stephen Jackson, who was suspended the first seven games of the season.

Jackson had 17 points and five rebounds Sunday in the Warriors' 106-100 triumph over the Toronto Raptors.

The last team in the NBA to earn a victory this season, Golden State has won eight of its last 10 meetings with New York.
