Iverson, Anthony help Nuggets capture sixth win in a row
Nov 21, 2007 - 6:01 AM By Blake Redabaugh PA SportsTicker Contributing WriterDENVER (Ticker) - Carmelo Anthony scored 26 points and Allen Iverson added 22 and three steals as the Denver Nuggets earned their sixth straight victory, a convincing 112-91 triumph over the slumping Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night.
Marcus Camby had 12 points, 20 rebounds and five blocks for the Nuggets, who could push their streak to seven games on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Clippers.
It was the fourth time that Camby has pulled down at least 20 boards this season.
"Camby's presence is powerful out there," Nuggets coach George Karl said. "It is easy to dominate when you have a defensive presence. This team has been playing better defense than I thought they would be at this time."
Denver came out firing on all cylinders in the first half, connecting on 22-of-38 shots (57 percent) from the floor en route to a commanding 72-53 lead at the break.
Named Western Conference Player of the Week on Monday, Iverson scored nine points during a 13-4 surge to close out the first half. The former league Most Valuable Player finished with 20 first-half points on 5-of-8 shooting and made all 10 free throws.
Denver concluded its four-game homestand by defeating opponents by an average of 23 points.
"We've been playing pretty good and we want to keep it up," Anthony said. "Take what we did here at home and take it on the road."
Rookie Joakim Noah collected 16 points and eight boards for the Bulls, who shot 40 percent (38-of-94) and fell to 1-3 on their six-game road swing.
"It's really rough losing games," said Noah, who won back-to-back national championships at Florida. "I don't know what it is. We are just not playing well."
Chicago, 2-8 on the season, never got any closer than 13 points after intermission and trailed by as many as 30 at one stage.
"We were a step slow and they took advantage of us," Bulls coach Scott Skiles said. "They just put it on the floor and went by us and created all kinds of problems"
