Stoudemire, rested Suns aim for eighth straight win

Nov 23, 2007 - 4:46 PM LA Clippers (6-4) at Phoenix (10-2) 9:00 pm EST

PHOENIX (Ticker) - Amare Stoudemire and the Phoenix Suns should be well-rested when they aim for their eighth straight win against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.

Stoudemire and the rest of the Suns' starters were able to sit out the entire fourth quarter of Wednesday's 127-111 win over the shorthanded Sacramento Kings.

The rest will be a welcome thing for Stoudemire, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on October 2 and missed three games due to swelling and soreness earlier in the season.

In the little time he was on the floor, the fifth-year pro scored 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting and pulled down six boards.

However, he was not needed since the Suns got off to an outstanding start. Led by Steve Nash and Shawn Marion, Phoenix scored 47 points in the first quarter and held a 110-82 lead after three periods.

Marion finished with a season-high 25 points, while Nash racked up 18 points and 15 assists for Phoenix, which led 80-63 at halftime.

The Clippers snapped a two-game skid with a 101-90 win over the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.

Chris Kaman led the way with 21 points and 17 rebounds and the Los Angeles bench outscored Denver's reserves, 50-19.
