Spurs look to continue best start in franchise history

Nov 26, 2007 - 4:11 PM San Antonio (12-2) at Sacramento (4-9) 10:00 pm EST

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Spurs look to continue their best start in franchise history and their recent dominance over the Sacramento Kings when the teams meet Monday.

The defending champion Spurs - who had never started a season 12-2 in their 34-year history - have won five games in a row by an average margin of 12.8 points.

Tim Duncan is averaging 22.8 points during the winning streak while Tony Parker leads the team in scoring at 20.5 points per contest this season.

Duncan scored 26 points Sunday and Manu Ginobili added 22 as San Antonio rolled to a 116-101 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics.

Sacramento has been going in the opposite direction, losing its last three contests for its second three-game skid this season.

The Kings have dropped their last five regular-season meetings with San Antonio and seven overall - including the final two games of the Western Conference quarterfinals at the end of the 2005-06 season.

Kevin Martin leads the Kings with 25.2 points per game, while Ron Artest has scored 22.2 points in five games after being suspended for the first eight to start the season.

The Spurs defeated the Kings, 96-80, on November 2 - and are 4-0 on the second game of a back-to-backs this season.
