Stuggling Blazers visit Spurs

Dec 2, 2007 - 2:09 PM Portland (5-11) at San Antonio (14-3) 3:30 pm EST

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) - The struggling Portland Trail Blazers go for their first road win of the season when they take on the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday.

The Blazers have lost eight of their last nine, and at 0-8 on the road, are one of three teams in the league who have yet to win away from home.

Recent history suggests that Portland still may be looking for its first road win after it meets the defending champions. The Blazers have lost nine in a row in San Antonio and 17 of 18 to the Spurs overall.

The Spurs also are one of two teams who have not lost at home, compiling a 9-0 record at the AT&T Center this season.

Portland has lost 12 straight road games - dating to last season - including a 91-80 setback to Dallas on Friday.

LaMarcus Aldridge leads the Blazers, averaging 19.0 points while reigning Rookie of the Year Brandon Roy is scoring 17.3 points per contest.

San Antonio has won seven of its last eight games, including a 106-91 come-from-behind triumph in Minnesota. Manu Ginobili scored 31 points and made a career-high seven 3-pointers as the Spurs outscored the Timberwolves, 32-11, in the fourth quarter.

Tony Parker is scoring 20.3 points per game, while Tim Duncan is averaging 18.5 points 9.3 rebounds.

The Spurs have never begun a campaign winning their first 10 home games. The 9-0 home record ties the best start in franchise history set during the 1999-2000 season.
