Sonics go for second home win against streaking Warriors

Dec 2, 2007 - 2:19 PM Golden State (8-7) at Seattle (3-14) 9:00 pm EST

SEATTLE (Ticker) -- The Seattle SuperSonics try to build on the momentum of their first home win of the season when they host the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.

The Sonics, winless in their first seven games at home this season, finally broke through on Friday. Rookie Kevin Durant scored 13 of his career-high 35 points in the final 4:45 of the fourth quarter, as Seattle snapped a six-game losing streak with a 95-93 victory over the Indiana Pacers.

Durant, who lost just 10 times during his lone season at the University of Texas last season, continues to impress, averaging 20.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in just over 34 minutes a contest.

If the Sonics are to win their second home game of the season, they have to try and stop a Warriors team that has won five-consecutive games.

Baron Davis scored 27 points and added eight assists as the Warriors extended their winning streak with a 113-94 victory over the Houston Rockets on Thursday.

Davis said in September that he would opt out of his current contract at the end of the season if Golden State didn't sign him to a long-term deal. The 28-year-old guard is making a strong case for a new contract, averaging a team-high 24.2 points and 8.5 assists.
