Mavericks aim to end Eastern Conference woes vs. Bulls

Dec 3, 2007 - 3:56 PM Dallas (11-6) at Chicago (4-10) 8:30 pm EST

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Losing to the Eastern Conference was a rarity for the Dallas Mavericks last season. But that has not been the case so far in 2007-08.

The Mavericks look to snap a three-game losing streak against Eastern Conference opponents when they visit the Chicago Bulls on Monday.

Dallas went 27-3 against the East a season ago en route to a 67-15 overall record.

But the Mavericks are just 3-4 against the East so far this season and have also lost three straight games on the road - including a 112-108 overtime setback to New Orleans on Saturday.

Reigning league MVP Dirk Nowitzki is scoring 20.9 points per game - which would be his lowest average in the last eight seasons.

The Bulls are coming off back-to-back wins for the first time all season. Ben Gordon scored 34 points as Chicago posted an impressive 111-95 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats.

Gordon is scoring 19.2 points per game to lead the Bulls, who are the only team in the league shooting below 40 percent.

The two teams split the season series with each team winning on its home floor last season.
